Meet Our Veterinarians

Dr. Zager was born and raised in Florida. He grew up in Miami, and is a graduate from the University of Florida College of Veterinary Medicine. He has a special interest in wound management, clinical pathology, and integrative medicine.

Hobbies
In his free time, he enjoys outdoor activities such as running, kayaking, hiking, and traveling. He has a goal to visit at least two National Parks per year. He spends his downtime with his fiancé and three large mixed-breed dogs. He enjoys visiting all the local restaurants and bars Saint Pete has to offer, and is a supporter of locally owned small business.

Dr. Waleski grew up in the Chicagoland area. She went to school at the University of Illinois for both her Bachelors in Animal Science and Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine. Dr. Waleski practiced medicine in the Chicagoland area for a few years after school before moving to St Pete. Her interests include surgery, integrative medicine, and educating and working with pet owners.

Dr. Waleski enjoys boating, scuba diving, kayaking, and traveling in her free time. She loves hanging out at the beach with her two dogs, Chief and Copper.

Dr. Nicole Hamisak is a St. Petersburg native that grew up around all types of animals from dogs, cats, horses, reptiles and more. Her doctorate degree in veterinary medicine is from St. George’s University and she completed her clinical year at Louisiana State University. During her time at LSU she focused on companion animal general practice, companion animal emergency medicine and surgery. Her desire to become a veterinarian started from a young age even before kindergarten and she has cared for, rescued and helped animals ever since.

She has experience in general practice, dental procedures, urgent care, emergency medicine and emergency surgery. While her experience is diverse, her passion is treating geriatric patients, performing surgical procedures, and emergency surgery. She strives for excellent medicine and communication and wants to help as many animals as possible. In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with her husband and 3 daughters as well as her favorite hobby riding her quarter horse Bobsy.

Meet Our Staff

Hospital Manager, Angela Canning, received her degree of Certified Veterinary Technician from St. Petersburg College. Originally from Ohio, she has lived in Florida since she was a child. She knew at a young age her career choice would lead her to work with animals, and she feels very fortunate to still be able to do so after 25 years in the field.

Hobbies: When not managing the Emergency Clinic, she enjoys spending time with her family, kayaking, biking or just hanging out with her girls
