Meet Our Veterinarians

Dr. Zager was born and raised in Florida. He grew up in Miami, and is a graduate from the University of Florida College of Veterinary Medicine. He has a special interest in wound management, clinical pathology, and integrative medicine.

Hobbies
In his free time, he enjoys outdoor activities such as running, kayaking, hiking, and traveling. He has a goal to visit at least two National Parks per year. He spends his downtime with his fiancé and three large mixed-breed dogs. He enjoys visiting all the local restaurants and bars Saint Pete has to offer, and is a supporter of locally owned small business.

Education: Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine

Pets: Zoey – 2 year old, Great Pyrenees Mix and Quinn – 1.5 year old, Calico

Dr. Lura joined the Animal Emergency Clinic of St. Petersburg in August of 2016. While he loves critical care and emergency medicine, he also has a strong interest in surgery and dentistry. Dr. Lura completed his Undergrad studies at University of South Florida – GO BULLS! After that, he completed Veterinary School at Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine.

Hobbies: scuba diving, biking and pretty much anything that involves him being outdoors. In his free time he spends the majority of it exploring local underwater scuba diving sites and remodeling his new home.

Hobbies: running, volleyball, basketball, hiking, camping, and TRAVELING! I love experiencing different cultures and exploring different areas of the world.

Dr. Ford graduated from Morehead State University in 2015 with a Bachelor’s in Veterinary Science and earned her DVM from Ohio State in 2019. She did an emergency/critical care internship at the Care Center in Cincinnati for 1 year and then was an associate emergency veterinarian with them for another year. Dr. Ford from the Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky area and just relocated to the St. Pete area. She enjoys  traveling, swimming, hiking, reading, and spending time with her dogs Sandy and Penelope.

Meet Our Staff

Hospital Manager, Angela Canning, received her degree of Certified Veterinary Technician from St. Petersburg College. Originally from Ohio, she has lived in Florida since she was a child. She knew at a young age her career choice would lead her to work with animals, and she feels very fortunate to still be able to do so after 25 years in the field.

Education: St. Petersburg College

Hobbies: When not managing the Emergency Clinic, she enjoys spending time with her family, kayaking, biking or just hanging out with her girls
